Barshinger Life Science & Philosophy Building at Franklin & Marshall College

Its red brick and limestone exterior suggests Georgian Revival, but the interior is decidedly 21st century. This building unites the departments of biology, psychology, and philosophy and reflects a commitment to cutting-edge research.  The lighting follows the architect's lead in striking a balance between old and new.  Lobby chandeliers are a nod to F&M's traditional campus architecture, while their contemporary styling speaks to its forward-looking academics.  Dimmable lighting is used throughout the facitlity to minimize energy use and support the varying requirements of each space.  Lobby lighting is programmed to accommodate formal and informal symposia and individual study.
