The Lighting Practice and CSI of Philadelphia have teamed up once again to host the 6th Annual CHAD Lighting Competition on Monday, April 23, 2018.

CSI Philadelphia and the Charter School for Architecture + Design (CHAD) connected through their mutual mission to educate students and engage the construction community by providing opportunities for growth, collaboration, and creativity.  This competition challenges CHAD students in Rob Melville’s Industrial Design class to develop, design, and construct lighting fixtures that fully embrace TLP’s mission to transform ordinary spaces with light making them extraordinary, captivating, and memorable.

Alfred Borden, Principal, of The Lighting Practice, will explain the importance of lighting and the role lighting designers play in the A/E/C industry.  Chris Hallenbeck, Lighting Designer, will use 111 West 33rd Street Lobby case study to connect the successful design process TLP follows to the students’ process conceptualizing, designing, and constructing their light fixtures.

A huge thank you to our judges for volunteering their time and expertise!  Erin McCauley, Assoc. IALD, Project Manager, The Lighting Practice will be judging the students’ work along side Laura Teter, LC, Specification Sales Manager, RAB Lighting, and Tommy McCann, Horticulture Educator and Stuckeman School Advisor, Penn State University*.
