Chase The Dark

the lighting practice careers

This month, the IALD initiated an international lighting event called Chase The Dark, a way for lighting enthusiasts to share their creativity with the world via guerilla lighting installations and social media.

On November 14th, Chase the Dark came into effect as IALD chapters across the globe from Sydney to Stockholm to San Francisco posted photos of their nighttime lighting creations.

In the days before the event, participants were sent light-up LED cubes capable of creating a rainbow of colors from the sponsoring lighting manufacturer, ACDC. When night fell, groups set out taking photos of their lighting creations and posting them to Twitter with the hashtag #IALDchasedark.

Many of TLP’s staff were excited to participate in this IALD event.  Splitting into smaller groups to cover more ground, they wandered Old City to incorporate landmarks like the Ben Franklin Bridge, Elferth’s Alley, Penn’s Landing, and the Race Street Pier with their lighting installations.

Contributing efforts to this successful event was an exciting way for lighting enthusiasts to connect with each other all over the world. Check out #IALDchasedark on Twitter to see images from across the globe and our Facebook page for more photos from Philadelphia designers!
