On June 22, Illumination Engineering Society presented Principal Jered Widmer with the 2017 Section Service Award. Jered received this honor for his dedication to the IES and specifically for his commitment to supporting and promoting the Philadelphia Section through marketing.

Jered’s efforts have furthered the reach of the IES Philadelphia chapter by supporting their purpose “…to advance lighting knowledge and disseminate information for the improvement of the lighted environment to benefit society.” He is the first individual to receive this distinguished award since 2008.

As TLP Principal, Jered’s role goes far beyond designing innovative lighting systems for high-profile projects like the Target Chicago Streeterville, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and Fort Worth JFK Tribute.  He also serves as an educator for his peers, clients, and the public. Through a tried-and-true collaborative design process, Jered helps facilitate a better understanding of the impact of high-quality lighting on spaces and people. As a leader in the lighting field, Jered is frequently interviewed by industry publications including Shop! Retail Environments and Healthcare Design.

The Illuminating Engineering Society is the premier lighting community dedicated to promoting the art and science of quality lighting to its members, allied organizations, and to the public. The organization brings together leaders in the lighting industry and translates their knowledge into actions that benefit the public.

Congratulations to Jered and the rest of the 2017 IES award winners.
