The Lighting Practice is delighted that we will be attending and speaking at IALD Enlighten Americas 2017!
Next month, The Lighting Practice President Helen Diemer, FIALD, and Associate Jon Hoyle will participate in IALD Enlighten Americas, the premier boutique conference highlighting lighting designers’ unique educational and networking needs. Helen and Jon will be among the best and brightest in the industry during this inspiring and educational conference in Denver, CO from October 12 to 14.
Helen will be participating in the Business Owners Forum on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This panel session, called Managing Growth, features the points-of-view of three different lighting designers. Helen, along with Barbara Horton, FIALD, CLD, of HLB Lighting Design Inc. and David Becker, Assoc. IALD, CLD, of David Becker Design, will speak about managing the growth or contraction of their lighting design businesses. Their presentation will highlight each firm’s growth process and the levers that propelled the expansion or contraction. Each of their stories differs from both a personal and business point of view. Managing Growth will run from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. during the forum.
Jon will be participating in Professional Tools Track: Architect, Engineer, BIM: Where the Lighting Designer Fits In on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 1:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Jon will be joined by two other lighting designers, Jonas Kuo, Assoc. IALD, of PritchardPeck Lighting and Katherine Stekr, IALD, CLD, of Stantec. The three designers will discuss the various uses of BIM for lighting design as well as project workflow tips. They will also debate the general pros and cons of BIM programs for lighting designers from the perspectives of small and large lighting design firms as well as a large architect/engineering firm.
