Jonathan Hoyle, Associate with The Lighting Practice, will be leading an interactive session at this years’ AIA Philadelphia Suburban Pro Con. The Suburban Pro Con will be held at Huntingdon Valley Country Club, the same location as the AIA Philadelphia Golf Outing. Jon will begin with a short presentation addressing the question, “LEDs can do that, right?” followed by a break-out construction session. Participants will have the opportunity to construct coves and use LED fixture samples to test out their own theories and Jon’s recommendations.

LEDs Can Do That, Right?
Monday, April 25, 2016
3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

The expectations of LED lighting have grown as the improvements in technology allow for smaller lighting fixtures.  Participants will be provided with materials to construct various architectural details, allowing them to be better positioned to select finishes, specify equipment, and detail the conditions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to detail more effective, commonly used architectural lighting details.
  2. Participants will be better able to design details that accommodate the maintenance requirements of LED products.
  3. Participants will be better able to select material finishes that are critical in achieving their expected lighting effects.
  4. Participants will be better positioned to select luminaires for lighting applications that benefit from smaller form factors and those that do not.
