Philadelphia’s Iconic Love Sculpture Returns to Love Park in Time for Valentine’s Day!

During the 2017 holiday season, Philadelphia enjoyed its landmarked Love Park for the first time since renovations began in 2015. But on February 13, 2018, the LOVE statue will come back to the park – just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Led by KieranTimberlake and Hargreaves Associates, the updates to Love Park are ongoing and are expected to be unveiled at a formal ceremony in spring 2018. The Lighting Practice worked with the team and the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation to design a lighting system that visually connects the park to other Philadelphia landmarks and provides a beautiful and safe nighttime experience.

“It’s been about two years since the LOVE Park statue actually stood in LOVE Park,” noted an article in Philadelphia Magazine, “so needless to say, we’re excited. Between the Super Bowl and the return of Philly’s most famous statue, it feels like a damn good time to live in this city.”

All of us at TLP are excited to see the iconic statue return to its home, and we look forward to the park’s official ribbon cutting ceremony this spring.

LOVE will soon be in the air.

Couples and cameras, prepare yourselves: The LOVE Park statue will (at long last!) come back to its rightful home on February 13th – that’s right, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The return will mark roughly three months since LOVE Park’s soft reopening in November, around the time the Christmas Village returned to the city. (Is it just us, or does that feel like forever ago already?)
