GNY Insurance Companies, with over a century of history in New York, has found its new home in the iconic Empire State Building. For this relocation, the client sought a modern, efficient workspace that reflects the energy and breadth of New York City. The project also needed to align with the Empire State Realty Trust’s (ESRT) building standards including specific finishes, lighting fixtures, and sustainability requirements.
As a long-time partner to ESRT, TLP collaborated with CBRE to craft a lighting design that meets ESRT’s criteria while creating opportunities to highlight GNY’s unique identity. On all office floors, open ceilings along the perimeter expose the building’s structure and systems, capturing the raw, urban spirit of New York. In these open office areas, sleek pendant fixtures subtly integrate into the exposed ceiling. In the pantries, lighting weaves through wood slat ceilings in a dot-dash rhythm, adding texture and visual interest. Sculptural pendant lights and floor lamps with globular forms are thoughtfully placed throughout the lounge and feature areas, bringing softness and warmth to the space.
