TLP Lights I-95 Improvements in Pennsylvania

I-95 Pennsylvania improvements

Interstate 95 in Pennsylvania is currently undergoing numerous transportation improvement projects intended to rebuild the entire interstate over time. Led by The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), these projects will reconstruct, widen and improve about eight miles of I-95 between I-676 and Cottman Avenue north of Center City Philadelphia over the next decade. A number of smaller projects are also in design or under construction on I-95 in Philadelphia, Bucks County and Delaware County. The I-95 improvements are steadily advancing in Philadelphia.

The Lighting Practice was tasked with lighting several areas involved in the I-95 reconstruction. TLP Principal Al Borden and Associate Ryan Conover have designed and will continue to work on the lighting system for the underpass and understructure lighting as well as pole lighting for the roadway and pedestrians.

PennDOT recently featured the I-95 improvements in Philadelphia in its Fall/Winter 2016 newsletter.

I-95 News | Fall/Winter 2016

The reconstruction of Interstate 95 north of Center City Philadelphia is steadily advancing across several busy work zones. PennDOT has so far invested more than $800 million under its current I-95 program on engineering and construction to rebuild, widen, and improve eight of the most heavily-traveled miles of this aging Pennsylvania interstate. Construction is underway at three interchanges (Girard Avenue, Betsy Ross Bridge, Cottman Avenue), while design engineers prepare plans for additional work at Girard Avenue and Betsy Ross Bridge as well as for future work at the Bridge Street and Allegheny Avenue interchanges.
