Lighting Up the Re-Envisioned LOVE Park in Philadelphia

LOVE Park Philadelphia PA The Lighting Practice

Last month, Philadelphia’s iconic LOVE Park entered the second phase of its major renovation that will soon give visitors a more vibrant and engaging experience. The city can expect the redesigned public space to incorporate more greenery and new pops of color among several additions, and the fountain that frames the famous LOVE Sculpture will also be updated.

The Lighting Practice was tasked with illuminating the re-envisioned oasis of LOVE Park. TLP Principal Al Borden and Associate Emad Hasan designed the integrated landscape and hardscape lighting plan that will visually connect LOVE Park to City Hall, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The lighting system will create a beautiful and safe nighttime experience for visitors. In addition to pulling from their extensive expertise with lighting Philadelphia’s public spaces, the design team based the concept on feedback from the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation and multiple public forums.

TLP is proud to be a part of the new vision of one of Center City’s most famous attractions.

“We are in the midst of a parks renaissance, and the partnership between city government and the private sector is stronger than ever,” Kenney said. “Saint-Gobain’s commitment speaks to its understanding of the value our parks play in Philadelphia.”
