Virginia Commonwealth University’s new School of Medicine opened in the spring of 2013. The Lighting Practice is proud to have been a part of the design team led by Ballinger and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects.
TLP was responsible for designing the lighting for interior public, teaching and administrative areas and exterior lighting at building entries. VCU’s new approach to medical training, less lecturing and more team/hands-on interaction, has been enhanced by the building and interior systems design. TLP developed lighting design strategies to promote the function and flexibility of the teaching spaces while maintaining a cohesive look from the building exterior.
