The University of Michigan’s new 12 story women’s and children’s hospital conveys a cheerful welcome to children, expectant mothers and visitors from the front door to patient floors. Colored and sparkling lighting elements captivate and provide a positive distraction for patients and provide wayfinding cues throughout the facility. The owner wanted sophisticated lighting effects that were affordable and easy to maintain. The Lighting Practice’s solution creatively incorporates simple lighting elements, minimizes lamp types and integrates cleanly with the architecture to meet the client’s requirements and create a magical experience.
