The Lighting Practice Welcomes Thomas C. Bergeron, Director NY Office

Thomas C. Bergeron, Director, NY Office

The Lighting Practice has built an extraordinary legacy of work since the firm opened in 1989. A recent expansion to Manhattan has strengthened TLP’s connection to its New York design partners, clients, and projects. Today, the firm is excited to announce that Thomas Bergeron has joined the firm as Director of the New York office.

Tom will focus on growing and maintaining TLP’s professional relationships in and around New York. He will lead the New York office and provide guidance in day-to-day operations. Working closely with the principals and marketing team, Tom will also have a major role in business development and other firm-wide strategic initiatives.

“Tom will be instrumental as we continue to expand our business and relationships in New York,” said Helen Diemer, President of The Lighting Practice. “He is resourceful and detail-oriented, and we are confident that his strengths, expertise, and interests will complement and enhance our team. We are delighted to have him at TLP.”

An accomplished lighting designer, Tom’s career has afforded him the opportunity to work on projects throughout North America, Asia, and the Middle East. He has been based in New York since attending NYU, focusing the majority of his project work in the Greater New York City area. Tom’s passion for exhibit spaces led him to design lighting for the Museum of Modern Art and other museums while working with Tillotson Design Associates. He has also designed lighting solutions for corporate, government and retail environments, exterior sites, and building façades as well as daylighting design integration and master planning. Lighting Magazine recognized Tom in the 2019 edition of 40under40, an international program that identifies the most promising individuals working in the lighting design industry.

“I was drawn to The Lighting Practice because of their emphasis on the human relationship within a space,” Tom said. “Going beyond innovation and aesthetics, the firm balances practicality with joy, comfort, and usability. I look forward to collaborating with the team and building on this dynamic energy that makes TLP unique.”
