The Lighting Practice, a national leader in lighting design, continues to grow and evolve as a firm to better serve and support our clients. In addition to expanding our footprint by opening an office in New York City, our firm continues to build a strong team of creative individuals with diverse experience and background.  TLP is happy to welcome two new members to our Philadelphia office, Angela Myers and Marién Vélez.

Angela Myers joins The Lighting Practice as a Designer. Angela began her career as a freelance theatrical lighting designer. Her experiences in the theater taught her the impact light can have on individuals’ perception and how it can create atmospheric environments. Angela previously served as Director of Education for Theatre Horizon, where she was responsible for the strategic development and growth of the Autism Drama Program. Her project experience includes education, hospitality, retail, and entertainment environments.

Marién Vélez joins The Lighting Practice as a Lighting Designer I. She previously worked as a lighting technician and independent lighting designer in New York City, Buenos Aires, and Puerto Rico. Marién’s Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design gave her a foundation and expanded her knowledge of architectural, stage, and social lighting. She is the founding member and coordinator of a social lighting group that helps low-income communities with lighting installations and workshops. Her project experience includes offices, retail, mixed-use environments, and public spaces.

The Lighting Practice is proud to have these new team members help carry the firm’s legacy of extraordinary lighting design and client service.
