D.E. Why? Why Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Matters
In recent years, D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) has been a hot topic in the workplace. We all want to create working environments that are diverse, equitable, and inclusive, but what does that actually mean?
To be honest, we don’t have all of the answers either, but we have some ideas. Join us as we examine case studies of individuals in the lighting design industry who come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. (Case studies will be real-life examples with alterations to details as necessary to provide anonymity.) Through these case studies, we hope to help provide insight into the challenges of colleagues that may have circumstances different than your own.
The presentation will begin with a brief overview of the fundamental principles of DEI, followed by a series of (3) case studies. The case studies will provide deep dives into various scenarios in which individuals struggled in the workplace, and what was done or could have been done to support them. The presentation will emphasize how utilizing DEI principles can promote a better working environment for everyone.
