University of Pennsylvania Wharton Academic Research Building

Philadelphia, PA

The University of Pennsylvania’s five-story, 74,100-GSF, Wharton Academic Research Building brings innovative teaching and research activities in data and analytics under one roof. The new state-of-the-art building’s upper floors connect to the south side of Steinberg Hall-Dietrich Hall, adding critical space for Wharton’s academic and research uses. The Lighting Practice worked with the design team to highlight the modern architecture and graphic walls with light. TLP uses electric light to balance daylight-filled academic spaces creating a comfortable environment for learning, research, and study. Dynamic pendants placed within informal lounges draw students in, encouraging community, informal learning, collaboration, and social engagement.
