Waterside District
Norfolk, VA
The Waterside District is Norfolk’s premier dining and entertainment hub, located in the central business district and adjacent to the city’s world-class waterfront. The Lighting Practice collaborated with the design team on the interior and exterior lighting design for the site and four main tenants. The site’s landscape and hardscape lighting, including the boardwalk, were designed to create an inviting and safe pedestrian environment. The façade and main entrances’ dynamic lighting attracts and draws guests in. The lighting design for the tenants includes interior and exterior dining, bar and lounge spaces, and exterior gaming areas. Each tenant space was designed around a different theme including a nautical beer tavern, Western BBQ, and harbor beach club. Track and LED track heads provide general illumination with maximum flexibility. LED filament lamps enhance each tenant’s theme. Additional accent lighting highlights architectural features, creating layers of light that generate an active and energetic atmosphere.
