This week our team of lighting designers led by Helen Diemer and Stephen Hoppe are at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, MD. TLP is on location focusing the installed lighting for the Tuesday August 26 grand opening.
The Lighting Practice joined the Horseshoe Casino’s design team led by KA, Inc. in 2013. We were asked to design the interior lighting for the casino floor including the food court, steak house restaurant, and sports bar. It’s rare to see a clock in a casino. But inside the beehive of the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, flatscreen televisions are ticking off the seconds until the South Baltimore gaming venue opens.
Eleven days and counting.
Workers are hustling around the clock to prepare the $442 million casino for its Aug. 26 grand opening. General Manager Chad Barnhill said they’re just installing the finishing touches.
“If we had to open in the next 12 hours we could get that done,” Barnhill said during a tour of the casino Friday.
The final work will be complete by Aug. 18 in time for the casino’s first of two demonstration days to prove it complies with state gaming regulations.
