A.J. joined The Lighting Practice in 2021 as the firm’s controller and has 9 years of experience of working in finance for the A/E industry. He graduated from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Economics. A.J. was exposed to Business Administration at a young age which piqued his interest in pursuing the field. He works closely with leadership and the Accounting Coordinator to oversee the firm’s finances and develop financial plans and strategies.
What inspired you to pursue your career?
Growing up, my dad had his own business that my mom helped him run, so business administration was something that I was exposed to at a young age.
What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?
I’m half Mexican, half Scottish, with strong ties to both countries.
If you had everyone over to your house for dinner, what would you prepare?
A family-style dinner like homemade spaghetti and meatballs (with a lot of wine).
What/where is your ideal vacation?
Lying out at the beach, with drinks, somewhere tropical.
