Lighting Designer II

Sarah Lurie joined The Lighting Practice in 2022. Sarah graduated from New York University Tisch School of Design with a degree in Theatrical Lighting. In previous roles, she worked in theatrical lighting design and site specific light art installations. In her role as a Designer at The Lighting Practice, Sarah will work on a variety of projects, coordinating with allied team members, performing documentation of design, completing construction administration tasks and more. Since 2017, Sarah has worked as an Adjunct Faculty member at New York University, teaching Lighting Design ITP Standards and special seminars. In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking, backpacking, biking, climbing and gardening.

What is the best thing about your job?
The variety of tasks and projects I’m exposed to – from interiors and facades to weird artistic projects like sculpting geometric forms through linear fixtures.

What/where is your ideal vacation?
Through hike of the Appalachian Trail.

What 3 items would you take to a desert island other than food and water?
A book, a hammock, my cat.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?
I did Krav Maga for several years.
