The Lighting Practice (TLP) is excited to welcome the newest Summer 2025 intern, Na Lyu. Through this internship, she will work alongside TLP’s lighting designers and learn the day-to-day responsibilities, understand more in-depth technical knowledge, and pursue her passion for design.
Na is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design and Interior Design from Parsons School of Design | The New School. Outside of school, she is involved in several extracurriculars including the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) as a student member. Na has always been interested in how professional lighting designers approach and interpret a space. She pursued this lighting design internship because she wants to bridge her design background with a deeper understanding of how lighting enhances architecture and supports the way people experience a space.
“I want to train my eyes to see spaces from a lighting designer’s perspective. I love that light offers both function and aesthetic. It’s like a subtle veil over a space and completely transforms how we perceive materials, finishes and the mood of a room. I believe light can enrich a space in such a powerful but quiet way,” says Na.
Na is excited to explore New York City this summer with friends and experience the energy and inspiration that the city has to offer, such as art, design and new ideas everywhere. In her free time and rainy days, she enjoys staying at home, appreciating the calming sound of the storm and recharging.
