IES Illumination Award of Merit, 2026
Sony Music Publishing’s new West Coast headquarters in Los Angeles is designed as a creative hub for artists, writers, and producers to collaborate, experiment, and find inspiration. The Lighting Practice’s design uses light to shape mood, reinforce the brand, and support the diverse needs of its users. A saturated-blue portal welcomes visitors, while curved linear lighting throughout the open office references Sony Music Publishing’s soundwave. In listening, writing, and recording spaces, discreet, acoustically sensitive lighting supports focus and comfort, with tunable white and color-changing systems offering creative flexibility. Layered controls allow spaces to shift from collaboration to contemplation, while daylight and efficient lighting strategies create a comfortable, sustainable environment. More than a workplace, the lighting design reflects Sony Music Publishing’s creative identity, bringing artistry, technology, and storytelling together through light.
